Your Contribution STILL matters!
While we are thrilled to have had such success thus far in exceeding our funding goal of $185 million,
we can still use your support!
The money we’ve raised to date will be used to construct the museum, install the galleries, and open the doors. But to be a world-class museum, we can’t stop now! To build upon the positive momentum, we hope you will support us as we continue our push for excellence to Build the Perot into the Museum that Dallas, the Metroplex and North Texas deserves.
We aspire to secure the financial resources to bring blockbuster traveling exhibitions to Dallas, to support innovation and technology, to strengthen our endowment, and to fortify our scholarship programs to make the Museum accessible to as many underserved children and families as we can, to that end we have created the below funds to do just that.
|
Traveling/Temporary Exhibits Fund - Museums often need to commit to hosting traveling exhibits two or more years in advance. Reserving these shows usually requires a hefty down payment or up-front financial commitment. Securing premier traveling exhibits is also a highly competitive process. Quick access to funds will give the Museum a competitive advantage when competing with other museums for top exhibits both nationally and internationally. The Exhibits Fund may also be used by the Perot Museum to create and build its own special temporary exhibits.
Operating Excellence Fund - The Museum currently has a “rainy day fund” of just under $3 million and plans to increase this reserve to $8 million, the equivalent of six months of operating expenses for the new Perot Museum.
Additional Endowment - The Museum is committed to growing its endowment and will seek additional funds through the funding of endowed museum positions such as the CEO or Chief Paleontologist, as well as a new planned giving program.
Innovation Fund - Modeled after a very successful program at the Science Museum of Minnesota, this fund will be a revolving investment capital fund to be used for the seeding and planning of major program initiatives that are aligned with the Museum’s mission and strategic plans.
Technology Fund - This fund will allow the Museum to continuously improve the technologies that drive our exhibits, educational programs, and visitor experiences. Whether it is an exhibit area which allows visitors to simulate building bridges and skyscrapers or a video distance learning technology which helps us reach a rural East Texas school district, technology will be integral to learning in our institution. Ongoing hardware and software upgrades, as well as strategic technology management supported by this fund, will ensure that the Perot Museum will be able to bring new exhibits and educational programs that utilize the most cutting edge technologies available to the city of Dallas each year.
Access and Scholarship Fund - The Museum currently raises approximately $200,000 per year through its annual fundraising efforts to enable students to attend in-museum and outreach programs at a reduced cost. The need for funds to expand access to the Museum and to Museum programs is growing each year, even more so with the recent budget cuts to school districts. Demand for museum programs will dramatically increase with the opening of the new Perot Museum. The Access and Scholarship Fund will enable the Museum to dramatically expand the number and amount of scholarships. This Fund may also be used to make the Museum more accessible to the general public, including specific constituent groups. |
